How can Connect to Work support you?

An employment specialist will work with you in:

1. Goal setting

You will be helped to set personalised job goals and make a plan to get you there.

2. Job finding

You will get help searching for jobs, making applications and interview preparation.

Your employment specialist will work directly with employers to find the right job for you.

3. Complete job support

Once in work your employment specialist will support you and your employer in the workplace to make your step into work easier.

If you are already employed and would like help to remain in your job, due to health barriers, Connect to Work employment specialists can support you for up to 4-months.

Am I eligible?

You must be over 18 in England and entitled to live and work in the UK.

You do not need to be on any type of benefit and it’s completely voluntary.

You must be motivated to work.

How we can help you:

  • We’ll help you find the right job by focusing on your strengths.
  • We’ll get you into paid work quickly and help you keep it.
  • We’ll support you if you are currently working and struggling to keep your job.
  • We’ll work with an employer to make sure you get the support you need.
  • We’ll work closely with health teams to make sure you get joined-up support for your health, wellbeing and your job.

How it works:

2. Talk to an advisor

We’ll explain how Connect to Work can support you. If Connect to Work isn’t the right programme for you, we can suggest other programmes that are more suitable.

3. Talk about you

We’ll help you identify your needs and get the right support

4. Meet employers

We’ll have conversations with new employers or your current employer to help you engage and find opportunities.

5. Find or improve your job

We’ll help you find a new job or get the support you need in your current job.

6. Help at work and we work with your employer

We’ll keep helping you learn and do well in your job.

We’ll talk to your employer to make sure you get the support you need

It’s part of a national plan to help more people get into work by offering the right support, at the right time, in the right place. The Somerset Work and Skills team runs the programme locally with help from experts in supported employment.
