Creative Careers: Essential Skills for Building Your Arts Business

To support emerging artists identify their goals and build confidence in managing their creative practice professionally.

•To introduce the key skills needed to start a small creative business

•To support emerging artists in identifying their goals and building confidence in managing their creative practice professionally

•To raise awareness of marketing, finance, and self-employment essentials

Learners will:

• Define their creative practice and identify short- and long-term business goals

• Understand different ways to market and sell creative work (e.g. Etsy, exhibitions, social media)

• Learn how to create professional invoices and track income and expenses

• Gain awareness of self-employment basics, including tax and registering a business

• Reflect on ways to manage stress and maintain wellbeing as a creative entrepreneur

• Identify next steps such as further enterprise training, peer networks, or mentoring opportunities
