Safeguarding documents

Somerset Council’s Community Learning is committed to promoting and ensuring safeguarding of all learners regardless of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation (protected characteristics of the Equality Act 2010)

We define safeguarding and wellbeing as creating an environment where everyone feels physically and emotionally safe. This includes responding appropriately to any incidents of bullying, harm, or abuse—whether they occur in person or online.

Each course or workshop will have a named tutor who can offer support and, where necessary, signpost learners to the Designated Safeguarding Lead within our community learning partner organisations.

We also have a central safeguarding team that can be contacted by learners or community learning partners to share concerns or worries and get advice for next steps and further support available.

If you require more information or assistance, please contact the Community Learning Team on 01823 356005.

Alternatively, you can complete a Community Learning Notification Form (external site), which will be sent directly to a member of the safeguarding team for an appropriate response.
